On July 7th, 2016, a peaceful Black Lives Matter-organized protest was concluding when shots resonated in Dallas. Mayhem ensued and by the end of the night, nine Dallas officers were hurt and five lost their lives.
Within days, Dallas business owners and community leaders joined forces to raise funds for the police officers and their relatives. Dos Jefes, a Latin-Asian tapas restaurant, hosted “Dine for Dallas Blue” and all of the funds raised by the dinner and silent auction they put on were given to the fallen and injured officers and their families.
Tony Polendo, General Manager of Calverley Service Experts in Fort Worth, was more than honored to get involved.
“I was out for my birthday dinner only blocks away from the events of that horrible evening,” Polendo recounted. “That night really struck home for me. As a military veteran, I have complete and total respect for anyone who wears a uniform in an attempt to protect and serve our community.”
“When my friend called to ask if we would support this charitable event by merely attending, I wanted to show our support to not only attend, but give our time and effort as well.”
Tony and the Calverley Service Experts team coordinated with Lennox to auction off a new HVAC system with complimentary installation at the Dine for Dallas Blue event. Below are a few pictures of the installation.
“I am both thankful and appreciative for the chance to have participated in such a worthwhile event,” Polendo said.
From your friends at Sunbeam Service Experts, we are truly sorry for the loss of the Dallas police officer community and for the relatives of Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael J. Smith, Brent Thompson, and Patrick Zamarripa.
