The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was honored to contribute more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano.
“Last September, I had the chance to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are a critical part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was started by Cheryl Jackson as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent her younger years wondering if and where she would get her next meal. Not only does Minnie’s provide free healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to use the food they are given to make healthy, long-lasting meals. They also offer resume support along with money-management and job classes to help people get back on their feet.
Since each family receives around 50 pounds of food to last them a month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“Each member of the team was so thrilled that we had this food drive for Minnie’s Food Pantry, and they even took us around their awesome facility,” Wilson said.
